HNI Corporation

From a struggling company called Home-O-Nize to industry leader HNI Corporation, visitors to the HNI exhibit witness the transformation of a company launched in Muscatine. Near the end of World War II, many had concerns that the men returning from war would not be able to find work. C. Maxwell Stanley, Clement Hanson, and H. Wood Miller decided to start a company that would provide jobs. The endeavor also offered the opportunity to try out their vision of a workplace where all were treated equally and respectfully as members of a productive industrial enterprise. Despite many obstacles, such as a post-war steel shortage, these men turned their members and others into believers, and the company succeeded.

Today, HNI Corporation is the second-largest office furniture manufacturer in the world, and the nation's leading manufacturer and marketer of gas- and wood-burning fireplaces. In 2008 the Corporation was recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of Americas Most Admired Companies in the furniture industry. The Corporation was also recognized by IndustryWeek in 2007 as one of the 50 Best Manufacturing Companies for the fifth consecutive year.

HNI Corporation is a group of companies, each representing a family of leading brands, products, and services for the office and home environments.
